OHIO VICTORIOUS OVER TRI-CITY THUNDER, 225-142
This past Saturday was the third time that the Ohio Roller Girls have matched up against Tri-City Roller Derby’s Tri-City Thunder from Kitchener, Ontario. OHRG recognized early on that they had some tough opponents in players like Tri-City veterans Wylde Leigh Cyote and Fox Smoulder. As evidenced by their strong 2013 playoffs performance, Tri-City had been working hard since the two teams last saw each other, but unfortunately for the Canadian team, Ohio had been doing the same. Right out of the gate, Ohio took the lead with The Smacktivist scoring the first two points of the game in the first jam. Ohio would continue to add a few points here and there for the majority of the first half. Ohio jammers found themselves trying to catch up to fast-moving packs with the Tri-City jammers hot on their tail. OHRG blockers weren’t having it any easier, finding themselves fighting some tough hits and strong walls courtesy of players like Fraxxure and Aggrosaurus. Ohio managed to maintain a steady lead despite growing penalty trouble, although the persistent pack disadvantage eventually caught up to them.
