Ohio Ready to Jam with Roc City

Hot off their season debut victory over Toronto, Ohio Roller Derby welcomes Roc City Roller Derby (Rochester, NY) to the Ohio Expo Center on Saturday, April 6th.

The Roc City Roc Stars have made steady upward progress in the WFTDA rankings over the past year, climbing from 114 last March to their current seat at 74 with the help of a stellar 8-0 season in 2018. Building on that momentum in the new year, the Roc Stars have extended their win streak to 10 games with early season home victories over Orangeville Roller Girls and Steel City Roller Derby. Their trip to Columbus is their first travel game of the year; they will also join Ohio at the Put Up Your Toques tournament in Canada in May, where they will take on Toronto Roller Derby, Royal City Roller Derby, and tournament hosts Tri-City Roller Derby.

Ohio has only clashed with Roc City once previously, which resulted in a 338-140 home track win for the All Stars. Both teams have undergone extensive roster changes in the years since but return largely veteran squads from last season. Prolific jammer GO! returns to the Roc Stars after two seasons with Queen City Roller Derby (Buffalo, NY), joining an experienced pool that also includes Florence Fightingale, Dang!SheFine, Kandy Krusher, and Medusa Mayhem. The Ohio All Stars field a similar roster to their last game, with minor adjustments as Pain Train returns to the track.

Doors open to the public at 4 p.m.; the Ohio Roller Derby All Stars will take on the Roc City Roller Derby Roc Stars at 5 p.m., followed by Ohio Roller Derby Gang Green versus the Roc City Roller Derby B-Sides around 7 p.m.

Individual tickets and group sales are available online through Friday, April 5th. For more event information, including venue, parking, and more, please visit our upcoming games information. We’ll see you in the bleachers—get ready to rock!
