Volunteer-Run

Ohio Roller Derby is completely volunteer-run and collectively managed.

Our league members hail from over Central Ohio. Every member – whether skater, coach, official, announcer, photographer – is a volunteer. Our volunteers represent a broad sampling of students, educators, artists, medical professionals, engineers, performers, and many more, using skills from their careers to manage our organization on and off the track.

D.I.Y.

While operating the league through volunteer work hours, attending practice 2-3 times a week, and competing at a high level within our sport’s governing body, our skaters fund their own gear, insurance, travel, and monthly dues.

Proceeds from dues, partnerships, and ticket and merchandise sales go right back into the league to cover costs ranging from practice and game space rental to tournament fees and supplies.

Inclusive

Roller derby is for the people! There is no singular “type” of person who gets involved with OHRD. OHRD is always actively working to be an accessible, body positive, culturally diverse, LGBTQ+ friendly, supportive, empowering, and equitable environment.

We strive to provide ample opportunities for our members to flourish on and off the track, while showcasing that a diverse range of folks in all shapes and sizes can be strong, athletic, and powerful.
