How did you get into derby?
Heard about it on the radio, so I wanted to go and see what derby was. I was hooked right away. I got info on the clinics and got into the rec league right away, and it just went from there.
What is the story behind your derby name?
I have a love of fire/flames so I wanted to incorporate that in somehow.
What is your favorite position to play on the track?
Blocker–I like the teamwork and strategy in the pack.
Any honors you have received while being with OHRD?
Being on the front cover of a bout program last season!
How do you prepare for a bout?
I get a good night’s sleep, have a steak lunch, and get to the venue early so I can get hospitality set up.
What are some goals you have for this upcoming season?
To work better with my teammates on the line and to stop the opponent from getting through.
What are your hobbies outside of roller derby?
Where to start–riding my motorcycle, jet skiing, hunting, camping and paintball. About anything outdoors.
Do you have any jobs with OHRD? If so, what are they?
I am the hospitality coordinator and an attendance taker.
What has been your favorite memory so far while playing with OHRD?
The bout against Steel City last year when my Pennsylvania and Ohio family came to see me skate.
Is there any derby gear that you can’t live without?
My hockey helmet.
What is your favorite color?
It’s funny but my favorite color is GREEN and has been for years.
Lastly, what is some advice for those that are interested in skating or trying out?
Follow your heart and don’t be scared to go out and try. You don’t know what you can do ’til to you give it a shot. Check out the Rec League to get started.
