Gnome
How did you get into derby?
Captain Trips and I were introduced to OHRD through a junior league that our daughter was on.

Do you have any other hobbies?
I like to knit, bake, read, and garden (I kill houseplants but coneflowers I can keep going for years). I also like to play board games, jigsaw puzzles and two collectible card games.

What is your favorite derby memory thus far?
My favorite derby memory would be traveling to and from derby events with my daughter with our derby road trip soundtrack playing. Maybe it’s watching a former OHRD skater give it her all & never quit.

Who inspires you?
I am inspired by all of our skaters as I have moments when I’m not feeling motivated & I remember all the work they put in. How could I not do something?

How/why did you pick your derby name?
My derby name was spun off of my Girl Scout camp name. Since I work the penalty box primarily, we morphed into a play on words.

Do you have any pre- or post-bout rituals?
Pre-derby, I pump up my impartiality with putting in my gnome earrings & putting on my gnome socks (kinda like shifting personalities). Post derby, I go home and sleep.

How has derby impacted your life?
Derby has taught me how to wear an impartial face, how to stay focused on a goal & achieve it.
