How did you get into derby?

I fell into it, to be honest. A work friend said she was going to a wannabe clinic and it sounded like a good chance to get out of the house. Few months later I was on the team.

Do you have any other hobbies?

I enjoy yarn crafts, including but not limited to knitting hats and crocheting things. Eating sushi is something I really enjoy along with Netflix marathons.

Who inspires you?

My fellow skaters are my inspiration. Meeting and watching people from all sorts of jobs and backgrounds come together as a team and also individually to power through many obstacles. Many times I have told myself if “skater” can do this and not complain, then I have no reason to.

What is your sports background?

None. I was in band and choir.

How/why did you pick your derby name?

I wanted something that played into an Irish theme, and is still a fun play on words.

Do you have any pre or post bout rituals?

Pre bout I’ve gotten into the habit of helping set up the track every home game. I eat a bunch pretty much that whole day. Usually I eat sushi or Taco Bell before a bout and treat myself to a Dr.Pepper after I play. 23 flavors. The best!

Do you have a favorite or signature move?

A favorite move is a swoop to the left. When I get it just right it can clear the track and feel unstoppable. It is a fantastic feeling when you get a move right, but ask me to do it on purpose and I forget how to skate completely.

How has derby impacted your life?

I cannot say enough how much derby means to me. It has helped me to continue maturing all around and has given me an entirely new group of friends. Being able to travel almost year-round is amazing and meeting people from different teams is awesome. You grow more with all the experiences you have. I won’t quit any time soon, I won’t quit ever actually. OHRD!
