#18 Bigg Rigg

bigg-rigg-profileHow did you get into derby?

I had a friend who worked at Northstar Café with Chewblocka (currently with Arch Rival Roller Girls). She told him about it, he told me about it, and, strangely, she and I have never officially met.

What are your other hobbies?

I work weird hours as an outpatient physical therapist, so I don’t have a lot of time to focus on other hobbies. Besides working out, of course. Mondays are leg days, Tuesdays are chest and triceps, Wednesdays are back and biceps…. just kidding.

Who inspires you?

My teammates, current and former.

What is your sports background?

I played soccer for a few years as a youngster (if you’re looking for a good time, give me exactly 2 beers then ask about my life-defining moment at the tender age of 5 during co-ed soccer), and I was in gymnastics for a hot minute. Mostly, I played a lot of basketball in my driveway and throughout my neighborhood, where I earned the street name “Mighty Mouse”.

How/why did you pick your derby name?

A friend suggested it. It’s a sarcastic play on my last name (Briggs), and the fact that I’m really not big. Like at all.

Do you have any pre or post bout rituals?

Pre-bout: Wake up, go to venue, eat donuts and lay track, go home, take a nap, wake up, go to Cornerstone Deli and eat their teriyaki chicken rice bowl, shower, clean wheels, report to venue at call time.

Post-bout: Eat TUMS to get rid of heartburn.

Do you have a favorite or signature move?

Signature move: making strange exhausted/focused faces while skating. I was sticking out my tongue before Miley made it cool.
