Number of years playing derby:
This is the third.

How did you get into derby?
I watched a game with [Slayna] Scully and was hooked immediately!

What are your other hobbies?
Crochet, plants, and generally being 80 years old.

Who inspires you?
Frida Kahlo, of course.

What is your sports background?
Ha, good one.

How/why did you pick your derby name?
I teach Spanish, and I do a unit about Frida Kahlo with my upper level kids. Her life story is filled with hardship and adversity, but she overcame it all and is one of the most famous female painters out there. So when I was trying to think of the most badass name ever, Frida stuck out to me because she’s such a strong female figure. And I hope she’d be honored.

Do you have any pre- or post-bout rituals?
Put on as many colors of eyeshadow as one could possibly hope to get away with, then add glitter.

Do you have a favorite or signature derby move?
So far, not dying.

How has derby impacted your life?
Derby came along at a time when I was facing a lot of big life changes, and it gave me an outlet for all of the stress I was dealing with.

Any other fun facts about yourself?
I’m one of five kids, I have two pit bulls, I teach Spanish to kids who think ordering Taco Bell is good Spanish, and I love living in Columbus!
